The Delhi Police has arrested a 42 -year -old man in the Defense Colony area of the national capital for forcibly recovering from an elderly woman, calling himself an MCD officer.
A senior police officer gave this information on Saturday. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankit Chauhan said, “A person named Tausif Raja went to the complainant’s house on May 9 and claimed himself as an officer of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and claimed that his house drains are dirty, for which he will be issued an invoice of Rs 50,000.”
According to Chauhan, the king asked for Rs 25,000 to settle the case, threatening to disrupt the power supply and disrupt the woman’s son, which he gave due to fear.
Chauhan said, “Raja came back on May 13 and demanded Rs 50 lakh from the woman. He again threatened to obstruct the marriage. The complainant’s husband gave cash of Rs 1.5 lakh to the accused near the Modi mill flyover.”
“However, Raja continued to harass the family, demanding more money, after which the woman lodged a complaint with the Defense Colony police station,” he said.
According to Chauhan, the police arrested the accused from Okhla area after scrutinizing mobile call records and footage of more than 100 CCTV cameras. He claimed that during interrogation, the king confessed his crime.
Chauhan said that the police have seized a motorcycle, mobile phone used in crime and Rs 28,500 cash from the possession of the accused. Raja, who has completed his graduation, worked as a property agent in Shaheen Bagh area earlier. He was earlier arrested in 2018 in a case of fraud lodged at the IP Estate Police Station in 2018.
