Delhi Assembly will be paperless from monsoon session: Chairman Vijendra Gupta

Delhi Legislative Assembly Speaker Vijendra Gupta said on Wednesday that the assembly is expected to be paperless from the monsoon session and the MLAs will use the e-grade application through ‘touchscreen desktop’, mobile phones and tablets for their legislative tasks.

Addressing the budget session of the assembly, Gupta said that the initiative of paper -free work has been intensified so that the project can be completed within 100 days. With this, the legislative work in the monsoon session to be held in June-July will be done with the use of the National E-Legislative Application (Neva).

Gupta said, “By adopting the e-Vidhan application, the functioning of the assembly, its committees and secretariat will be ‘digital’ and paperless.” The chairman said that the MLAs will be trained to use this ‘application’. He said that a detailed project report (DPR) has been prepared on this and three training sessions have already been held on the app.

Gupta said that MLAs will use this application through ‘touchscreen desktop’, which will be installed on their table in the assembly hall and till the monsoon session this application will be installed on the desktop, which the MLAs will be able to use on their smartphones and tablets by downloading.

The Speaker said that a tripartite settlement memorandum was signed between the Delhi Assembly, Delhi Government and the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs on March 22 for the implementation of Neva. He said that the Center had given funds to the assembly for this project.
