Under a notable improvement in air quality, Delhi was recorded at an average air quality index (AQI) 85 on Saturday, the lowest level in the last three years for the period between January 1 to March 15. According to the Air Quality Management Commission (CAQM), this is the first time in 2025 when Delhi’s air quality has come in a satisfactory category (AQI 51-100). CAQM said in a post on X that today, the average AQI 85 was recorded in Delhi, the lowest in the last three years for the period from January 1 to March 15. It is also the first day of the current year, in which AQI was ‘satisfactory’. Notable, Delhi has seen a satisfactory AQI in March for the first time in five years since 2020.

Increase in temperature
As the winter is decreasing, the temperature has started increasing throughout the country. Annapur Hobli village of Kalburgi, Karnataka recorded the highest temperature of 42.8 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has estimated an increase of 2 to 4 degrees Celsius in temperature between 15 and 17 March in northern internal Karnataka. A warning of heatwave has been issued for 18–19 March due to the possibility of extreme conditions in different areas of northern interior Karnataka. According to the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Center (KSNDMC), several districts including Kalburgi, Bidar, Bagalkot, Raichur, Yadgir and Vijaypura recorded 40 ° C and above on Friday.

Weather change in Delhi-NCR
Meanwhile, the weather changed in Delhi-NCR, there was black clouds in the sky on Friday evening. There was light rain in some parts of South Delhi, which gave relief for some time. IMD has predicted partly cloudy and light rain in some places in the plains of northwest India in the coming days. Improvement in air quality in Delhi is a positive developments, but the rising temperature and heat warning indicate early heat in many parts of the country.
