Devinder Kumar Sehrawat, who was elected MLA from Bijwasan seat on Aam Aadmi Party ticket in 2015, is a retired colonel of the Indian Armed Forces. He is a farmer leader from rural area of Delhi. He played a key role in the India Against Corruption movement in 2011, which contributed to the passage of the Lokpal Bill. He was a founding member of the Aam Aadmi Party and served on its National Executive Committee. He has also worked to preserve the cultural heritage of Delhi.
Early life and education
Devinder Kumar Sehrawat was born in Mahipalpur Delhi. He attended The Air Force School, Subroto Park, Delhi as a boarding student. He received a postgraduate diploma from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad, a Master of Science (MSc) degree from the University of Madras and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University through the National Defense Academy (NDA).
military life
Aam Aadmi Party leader Devinder Kumar Sehrawat served in the Indian Army for 20 years. He trained at the National Defense Academy Pune, where he captained the basketball team and received the Book Award for standing first in “Composite General Service Subjects” during his fourth term. After NDA, he completed his military training at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun. At IMA he earned the Jammu and Kashmir Medal for excellence in “Tactical Training” among his classmates and held the prestigious post of Academy Under Officer for two terms during his final year.
Civil society and activism
Sehrawat played an important role in the India Against Corruption movement in 2011. Who had contributed in taking forward the Lokpal Bill. He was a founding member of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and served on its National Executive Committee. He has also worked to preserve Delhi’s cultural heritage, including efforts to save the Aravalli Ridge and Sultan Garhi structures, and was honored for his social impact in TOI in March 2013.
He is from Aam Aadmi Party, A.A.A.P. He was one of the founding members of the party and was a member of the first executive committee of the National Council upon the formation of the party on 26 November 2012. He held the following responsibilities in the party- Member Land Acquisition Committee, Haryana State Incharge. He inspired the villagers in efforts to save the Aravalli Ridge in the Vasant Kunj-Mahipalpur-Rangpuri area.

In February 2015, Sehrawat was elected member of the Delhi Legislative Assembly representing the Bijwasan constituency. His tenure saw initiatives in infrastructure, education and environmental advocacy.
