During its rule in Haryana, Congress promoted regionalism, during Hooda’s time, other regions were treated step-motherly

The people of Haryana have suffered the period of Congress and Bhupendra Hooda, when the government was concerned only with a few areas of the state. It never cared much about the rest of the state. Most of the areas and their people were completely neglected. The open game of favoritism was run from the level of the Chief Minister. Just as a community of Haryana dominated the Congress rule then, in the same way the government’s treasury was opened for a particular area. Bhupendra Singh Hooda had systematically diverted the resources of the state towards only one area. This was the area of Haryana where he could fulfill his political interests. At that time it did not matter to the government that most of the population of the state was looking away. They were only concerned about their favorite area.
The state government was not able to spend the money it collected from the public
The biggest example of this undemocratic and discriminatory act of the democratically elected government in Haryana is the mismanagement of more than Rs 1,000 crore out of Rs 5,000 crore collected in the name of external development charges in Gurgaon. The Hooda government had collected this amount from the residents of Gurgaon and admitted before the court that it could not spend such a huge amount on development and welfare works.
Top priority in giving model village to Rohtak
Bhupendra Singh Hooda’s government was so blindly involved in regionalism that when it came to naming 65 villages as model villages, it surprised everyone by ignoring Mahendragarh, Sirsa and Panchkula districts. Even more shocking was that out of these, 36% model villages were taken from just two districts. Out of those, Hooda’s home district Rohtak was the biggest beneficiary.
The government treated the areas of political opponents step-motherly
The Congress government did not think that such blatant misuse of power could attract anyone’s attention. The government was theirs and they did whatever they wanted. Now that Sirsa is linked to the Chautala family, the suspicion deepens that the entire decision was influenced by politics and discrimination. The development of the people of this region was not even a priority of the government.
In Haryana, there is promptness in collecting money from the public, but discrimination in spending too
The resources that were raised by Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) between 2004-05 and 2013-14 were also allocated in a haphazard manner. Attempts were made to selectively ignore those districts that did not fit into the Congress ecosystem. The result was that hardly anything was seen in the name of progress in Mahendragarh, Jind, Hisar, Fatehabad, Rewari, Charkhi, Dadri, Bhiwani, Kaithal, Sirsa and Yamunanagar districts.
The general public’s expectations from their own government were meaningless
All the development announcements made during the Congress regime were basically limited to a particular region and the entire state was left to fend for itself. Due to this tendency of the Congress, not only did a particular community and region get priority in Haryana, but in a systematic manner, most of the areas and most of the population of the state were left to live a life of despair. Where, it had become meaningless for them to expect anything from their own government.
