Dust, ruins and debris everywhere … yet something like this is being celebrated in GAZA

Israel agreed to the proposal of Steve Witcoff, an envoy of US President Donald Trump, Steve Witchoff for a temporary ceasefire in Gaza during the period of Ramadan and Passah. After this, some peace is being seen in Gaza and people are celebrating Ramadan in the shadow of fear. On March 1, Saturday evening, a poignant Iftar dinner was organized by activists to break fasting together for war -affected Palestinians on the first day of Ramadan. Iftar was arranged in a residential area which was once a rich place but is now lying in the destructive ruins.

Despite the destruction, some aspects of daily life are returning under the ceasefire. Hundreds of Palestinians gathered in Rafa for the first Iftar of Ramadan, and shared food between the ruins of the destroyed buildings. This has occurred when conversations for the second phase of the ceasefire in Cairo continue to be the intermediary of Israel, Qatar, Egypt and the United States. While Hamas has not directly participated, its situation is being presented through Egypt and Qatari officials.
While shops and street vendors have reopened in some areas, economic difficulty remains. Supermarkets like Hyper Mall have reopened in Nusit, but many essential items are out of reach of people who have lost their livelihood. After sunset, when the time of Iftar was announced, the Palestinians broke their fast with food between the destroyed houses and the rubble of the buildings destroyed in Gaza’s most bombarded city, Rafa.

Some pictures and videos of the gathering show an uncomfortable contradiction of lively lights adorned with the Palestinian flags decorated above the temporary dining area located between the collapsed buildings and the mountains of the rubble. There is a disturbing environment around this scene of food, but the Palestinian families, including the elderly, women and children, sit together and are filled with laughter. However, there was a deep grief of damage to his loved ones, homes and cities due to Israeli aerial bombing behind his smile. The residents recalled a happy Ramadan celebrations filled with community festivals and decorative decorations, including those who are now killed in conflict.
