Earthquake occurred in Nepal at three places, no casualties were reported

An earthquake shock was felt at three places in Nepal on Saturday. However, there is no notice of any damage or casualties. According to Nepal’s National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center (NEMRC), a 5.9 magnitude earthquake was recorded at 2.35 pm local time, which was the center of Tibet’s Dinge at Tibet’s County, about 140 kilometers north of Tapalajing district of East Nepal.

An NEMRC official said the earthquake shocks were also felt in Kathmandu and some other districts of eastern Nepal. Earlier, two earthquakes were reported respectively in Baglung and Myagdi districts of western Nepal.

According to NEMRC, an earthquake struck Baglung district, about 300 km from Kathmandu, at 6.20 am. Its intensity on the Richter scale was 4.1 and its center was the Khukhani area of ​​the district.

It said that before this, earthquake tremors were felt in Myagdi district, about 40 km from Baglung at 3.14 am. The Center said that its intensity was measured at 4.0 on the Richter scale, which was the center of Magdi district.

According to NEMRC data, 10 earthquakes have occurred in Nepal in 2025, with more than 4.0 earthquakes, while 22 earthquakes were recorded in 2024. The most frightening earthquake ever occurred in the Himalayan nation in 2015. At that time more than 9,000 people were killed in a 7.8 magnitude earthquake and more than 8,00,000 houses, school buildings and other structures were damaged.
