Eight Bangladeshi citizens living illegally in Delhi were taken into custody

Eight Bangladeshi citizens living illegally in southwest Delhi, including a 38-year-old person involved in human trafficking case in Bangladesh, have been detained. The police gave this information on Thursday.

Police said the accused have been identified as Rabiul Islam (38), his wife Seema (27) and son Abraham (5), Papia Khatoon (36) and her daughters Sadia Sultana (21) and Suhasini (1) besides Aryan (7) and Rifat Ara Moyna (28).

According to officials, the people detained were living in various parts of southwest Delhi including Kishangarh and Katwaria Sarai and they illegally entered India between 2007 and 2023 through Tripura, Ghiza Donga and Benapol borders with the help of brokers.

A senior police officer said that all eight prisoners were produced before the Foreign Regional Registration Office (FRRO) on 16 April and sent to exile center.

A police team detained Islam from Satya Niketan Bazar area on 15 April on the basis of secret information. The official said that he told the police that he had illegally entered India in 2012 and also shared information about other Bangladeshi citizens living in the city without proper documents. During the investigation, it was found that Islam was involved in a case of human trafficking in Bangladesh.
