Election Commission has become a puppet in the hands of Modi government: Kharge

Accusing the Election Commission of becoming a puppet in the hands of the Narendra Modi government, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said on Wednesday that the subject of ‘flaws’ was raised before the Commission in the election process but no action was taken.

He specially mentioned the Maharashtra assembly elections last year and said that elections should be held with ballot papers. Kharge told reporters at the Congress headquarters ‘Indira Bhavan’, “The Election Commission has become a puppet in the hands of the government … you have a puppet and you (Prime Minister Modi) claim that you are winning the election. You are not winning the election, your machine is winning. ”

He claimed about Maharashtra that there were flaws in the election process. He said, “We had demanded a ballot before the Election Commission. Did he do this? You (Commission) do what Modi ji says. Thank you for what you are doing for Modi ji. ”

The Congress President said in response to a question, “We tried our best, under the law. If the government is determined that the mistake that is happening is to take it forward and the commission runs at their behest, then only the public can give its medicine. We will go to the public again and again. We will keep fighting. ”

Kharge insisted on this, “When the whole world is running on the ballot, why are you not running?” Our demand is that elections should be conducted by ballot. In the US, Australia, Britain and many countries, elections are held with ballot papers. We will continue to demand this.
