Delhi High Court said that Baramullah MP Abdul Rashid Sheikh alias Engineer Rashid will have to be deposited ₹ 3.35 lakh with Tihar Jail officials to take Parliament. A division bench of Justice Chandra Dhari Singh and Justice Anoop Jairam Bhambhani said that Rashid has already paid around ₹ 1.45 lakh, so it needs to pay only the remaining amount. The order was passed when Tihar Jail told the court that the total expenditure of his visit to Parliament would be around ₹ 8.7 lakh.

On March 26, the High Court allowed Rashid to participate in the Parliament session in custody. The payment of travel expenditure was one of the conditions imposed in the order. On March 27, the jailed MP again approached the High Court and said that the jail authorities have told them that they would have to pay Rs 1.45 lakh per day to move from Tihar Jail to Parliament.
Senior advocate N Hariharan appeared on behalf of Rashid and argued that he did not have money to bear these expenses, which are too much. Hariharan said that Rashid wants to do his public duty and service by representing the people of his constituency in Parliament. He said that I have nothing Maharaj. Last time the people of my constituency had deposited money. I will somehow try to raise 50 thousand rupees and deposit. I do not have money, but I will ask my people to do crowdfunding.
