National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday welcomed the celebration of both Kheer Bhavani Mela and Urs of Hazrat Mir Syed Ali Hamdani and described it as a symbol of communal harmony in Kashmir. He emphasized the importance of unity for national progress. Talking to ANI, Farooq Abdullah said that it is a matter of happiness that Kheer Bhavani’s fair and Hazrat Mir Syed Ali Hamdani’s Urs are being celebrated today. There has always been brotherhood in the valley. We want to see this brotherhood across the country. If we remain united, we will progress.

Kheer Bhavani Mela is an important annual religious festival for the Kashmiri Pandit community. It is held at Kheer Bhavani Temple in Tulla Mulla village in Ganderbal district. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Raganya Devi, a form of Goddess Durga and is considered one of the most sacred sites for Kashmiri Hindus. Abdullah expressed concern over the decline in the number of pilgrims after the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, appealed to the devotees to go to Mata Vaishno Devi temple in Katra.

Abdullah told ANI that we should visit Mata Vaishno Devi in ​​Katra and appeal to people to go there. The number of people visiting Mata Vaishno Devi has decreased. People are scared after the recent war tragedy. The impact of the incident of Pahalgam was seen all over the country. Earlier, Abdullah had urged tourists to return to Jammu and Kashmir and emphasized that the region wants peace, not violence.

He expressed concern over the negative impact of tourism at places like Pahalgam and the negative impact of terrorist attacks on the livelihood of the people, especially before the annual Amarnath Yatra. Speaking to ANI in Pahalgam, Abdullah said that the Prime Minister (in various countries) has sent delegations. They convey the message that we want peace and we are not in favor of war … killing innocent people should stop. He said that due to the barbaric attack of April 22, there was a loss in the local economy, especially Pahalgam.
