FIR should be recorded anywhere in the country, justice will be held in 3 years … Amit Shah said on new criminal laws

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that three new criminal laws, Indian justice codes, Indian Civil Protection Code and Indian Evidence Act will change the criminal justice system in the coming days. Speaking at a program organized on the completion of one year of these three new criminal laws, Shah said that the complete implementation of this system will take a maximum of three years. He said that the biggest problem in front of India’s criminal justice system is the lack of deadline to achieve justice.

Shah said that I can say with confidence that after this, file an FIR in any corner of the country, you will get justice within 3 years. This will be ensured. BNS, BNSS and BSA replaced the Indian Penal Code of the colonial era, the Criminal Procedure Code and the Indian Evidence Act of 1872 respectively. The new laws came into force on 1 July 2024. The Home Minister termed the three laws as the biggest reform of independent India and said that the use of technology would ensure that no criminal would avoid punishment after committing crime.

He said that justice will definitely be given within the stipulated time. He said, “The Narendra Modi government, your elected government has enacted laws for you and it will protect all your rights.” From July 1, 2024, all the new FIRs were registered under BNS. However, earlier cases filed earlier were run under the old laws until their final settlement. New laws brought modern justice systems, including provisions like zero FIR, online registration.
