The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Sunday made an important announcement that the first conference for women’s peace soldiers will be held on February 24-25 in New Delhi. In an official statement, the Ministry of External Affairs said that the theme of this conference will be ‘women in peace campaigns: Global South perspective’. The Ministry of External Affairs is organizing this conference in collaboration with the Ministry of Defense and United Nations Peace Establishment Center (CUNPK).

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the conference will include women’s peace soldiers of 35 countries (TCC) who made military contributions in the global south. The Foreign Minister will give the main speech. In particular, the United Nations will be represented by Jean-Pierre Lakroex, Under General Secretary of the United Nations Department of the Peace Campaign Department and Mr. Christian Sounders, Special Coordinator of the United Nations. They will attend the conference with other relevant stakeholders in the peace establishment area. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the women’s peace soldier will also meet President Draupadi Murmu.

A video message about the conference was also shared by Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal on X. It said that at the conference, the United Nations and India’s top policy maker, peace soldiers and officers, in collaboration with 35 TCC, “will discuss the global South view on technology in peace, training and regional cooperation”.

According to the Ministry of Defense, India has served 49 out of 71 United Nations Missions. Indian soldiers have shown the highest level dedication and determination by serving physically in the most difficult and most rigorous environment. This work of dedication has also given the Indian Army praise and recognition worldwide. Till date, more than 200,000 Indian citizens have contributed to United Nations peace establishment and have provided their valuable assistance to many conflict states.
