Kerala is already receiving heavy rains, so the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red, orange and yellow alerts for several districts of Kerala, which has been warned of heavy to extremely heavy rain.
Life was affected on Tuesday due to continuous rains in Kerala. Trains are running late in many places in the state, water logging has been done in low -lying areas and traffic is being disrupted in towns and villages. The situation is worrisome since last night due to the falling of trees in the northern districts. Officials said the broken electric wire fell on the railway line due to uprooting a huge tree on the Kozhikode-Arikode route.

It took the officers a few hours to remove the wire from the railway line and restore the general traffic of the train on the route. According to railway sources, many trains including Vande India and Parashuram Express going to Thiruvananthapuram are running late. The water level in the rivers is continuously increasing and many houses located in the low -lying areas in the northern part of the Wayanad district have been flooded. Wayanad has been receiving heavy rains for the last several days.
Many areas submerged
In many submerged areas, people can be seen using a boat to reach safe places. Officials said that hundreds of people have been taken to relief camps and they also include people living in remote tribal areas. There are reports of damage to houses and crops from the height areas of Ernakulam district, especially Kothamangalam area.

Large stones who fell on the streets from the hills in Kallar, a height area near Thiruvananthapuram, disrupted traffic for some time. A similar situation is being seen in the northern district Kannur and there are reports of landslides and waterlogging in low -lying areas from there.
Damage to about 607 houses across the state
Meanwhile, Revenue Minister K Rajan told reporters here that about 607 houses have been damaged across the state due to heavy rains. He said that 21 of these houses were completely destroyed. People protested in many places as the power supply of houses was disrupted. The news channels showed that people, including women, staged a protest at the office of Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) in Pathanamthitta district.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) released ‘Orange Alert’ on Tuesday, estimating heavy rains in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alpuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasargod. Orange alert means 11 to 20 cm of heavy rainfall. The IMD said that there is a possibility of moderate rain at one or two places in these districts and strong winds at a speed of 50 km per hour.
