A special flight on 310 Indian students from Iran’s Tehran landed in Delhi on the evening of 21 June, which provided relief to the families waiting for them to return. Amid growing regional tension to students, they were taken out under coordinated attempts by Indian authorities to ensure their safe home return. On arrival, health and immigration protocols were followed and students were provided necessary assistance at the airport. Those who made emotional return, including students and religious pilgrims, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Government of India for ensuring their safe comeback between the growing Israel-Iran struggle. An aircraft with 290 Indian students from Iran’s Mashhad landed at Delhi Airport late on Friday (20 June), most of whom from Jammu and Kashmir. The Government of India has launched Operation Indus to evacuate its citizens from the Middle Eastern country amid growing tension between Israeli and Iran.
The Jammu and Kashmir Students Union said in a statement earlier, and thanks to the Government of India, Ministry of External Affairs and all concerned officials for timely intervention and support. This is a great relief for families who were eagerly waiting for their children’s return. Taking a special step, Iran opened its airspace on 20 June to facilitate India’s withdrawal efforts. The students were first taken from Tehran to Mashhad, and special flights run by the Iranian airline were coordinated by Indian officials.
