Three independent MLAs supporting Saini also reached Raj Bhavan. These independent MLAs include Savitri Jindal, Devendra Kadyan and Rajesh Doon. Earlier today, Nayab Singh Saini was unanimously and unopposed as the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislature party. Former Haryana Chief Minister and Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and former Minister of State Anil Vij proposed Saini’s name in the legislature party meeting held in Panchkula, Haryana.

Addressing the meeting, Home Minister Amit Shah said, Haryana has created history by proving the country’s political pundits wrong by forming the BJP government for the third consecutive time. The BJP had indicated during the elections that Saini, who replaced Manohar Lal Khattar as chief minister in March and hails from an Other Backward Class, would be its choice for the top post if won. In the assembly elections, the party recorded its best win with 48 seats, 11 more than the Congress. JJP and AAP were wiped out and INLD managed to win only two seats.
