Birth and family
HD Deve Gowda was born on 18 May 1933 of Hardhan Galli village Hassan in Karnataka. His father’s name was Dodde Gowda and mother’s name was Devamma. At the same time, he received a diploma in Civil Engineering to get early education. At the age of 20, he started participating in active politics.
Political journey
In 1953, Deve Gowda joined the Congress party. He was a member of the same party till 1962. In 1962, he became a member of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. At the same time, from the year 1972 to March 1976 and from November 1976 to December 1977, he got a good significant as the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly. In the year 1991, he was elected as an MP from Hassan Lok Sabha. In 1994, he was the architect of the public’s victory. At the same time, HD Deve Gowda became the 14th Chief Minister of Karnataka on 11 December 1994 after being elected leader of the Janata Dal.

At the same time, he was declared the leader of the United Front and became the 11th Prime Minister of the country.
