Trump said, Prime Minister Modi came here recently and we have always been very good friends. Accepting India’s high tariff, he said that India is one of the most tariffs in the world. They are very smart. He (PM Modi) is a very smart person and I have very good friends. Expressing hope, Trump said that I think everything is going to be very good between India and our country.
Trump met Prime Minister Modi at the White House in February, after which Modi was warmly welcomed in the US. In the conversation between the two, friendship and harmony between the two were clearly seen. Trump called Modi a special person and harsh negotiator. In February, US President Donald Trump announced that he would soon impose mutual tariffs on countries like India and China. He said that America will also impose the same tariffs that these countries put on American goods. Trump’s remarks came after the recently announced announcement, in which he has said to impose 25% tariffs on all imported vehicles entering the US since April 2.
The purpose of this step is to strengthen domestic manufacturing. This decision is expected to affect about half of the vehicles sold in the country, including American brands manufactured abroad. The ongoing tariff talks between India and the United States are taking place at a time when India wants to reduce tariffs on US imports of $ 23 billion, while it wants to save Indian exports of $ 66 billion. Earlier, Trump criticized India that he was imposing high tariffs, especially on automobile imports, which could be more than 100%.
