I am getting very emotional after the last six months: Hardik Pandya

Vice-captain Hardik Pandya, one of the heroes of India's T20 World Cup win, said that despite the difficult few months leading up to the T20 World Cup, he was confident that he would shine when given the opportunity. Pandya scored 144 runs in the tournament and also took 11 wickets, including three wickets in the final against South Africa.

Pandya said, “I am getting very emotional. The whole country was waiting for this victory.” He said, “Specifically talking about me, I did not speak a single word in the last six months. Things were getting unfair but I knew that a time would come when I would shine.”

He said, “Such an occasion has made it more special.” Pandya was criticized a lot for being made the captain of Mumbai Indians in place of Rohit Sharma in the IPL. Fast bowler Jaspreet Bumrah said, “I played with a calm mind. We wanted to win the World Cup. I am on cloud nine. My son is here, family is here. We worked very hard for this title.”

All-rounder Akshar Patel said, “This is everything for me. Before this World Cup, I was struggling with injuries for the last few years. I was not able to perform like this. I wanted to do something for India. I am feeling proud.
