Pakistan Army Chief General Aseem Munir has warned that India will be given a quick and strong reply to any military courage amidst increasing tension with India over the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir last month. His remarks come at a time when India is planning a possible military action against Pakistan in response to the massacre in Pahalgam on 22 April, killing 26 people by Pakistan -backed terrorists, mostly tourists. Addressing soldiers above a tank during a military exercise on 1 May, Munir said that there should be no ambiguity. India will respond to any military courage with quick, firm and stringent answers.

The Pakistani army chief said that the army has a “determination” to protect the country’s sovereignty and regional integrity, irrespective of it. While Pakistan is committed to regional peace, our preparation and determination to protect national interests is complete. However, Munir’s response seems more than political calculations. Analysts have described Munir as a radical person towards India, who believes that long -running struggle with New Delhi is originally religious. Interestingly, a few days before the Pahalgam attack, Munir told the Pakistanis to “tell their children about the deep differences between Hindus and Muslims, which is the basis of the creation of the Islamic Republic. He cited two-nation theory, resulting in Pakistan in 1947.

General Munir said on 16 April that our ancestors believed that we are different from Hindus in every aspect of life. Our religion is different. Our customs are different. This was the foundation of two-nation theory. He further said that Kashmir is a nerve of a throat for us. According to reports, it was considered a sign for Pakistani terrorist organizations and the Pahalgam attack took place about a week after that speech.
