Kuala Lumpur. India won the ICC Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup title for the second consecutive time by defeating South Africa by nine wickets in the final here on Sunday. Chasing South Africa’s target of 83 runs, India won an easy win by scoring 84 for one wicket in 11.2 overs with 52 balls remaining.
Gongadi Trisha was the top scorer for India by scoring an unbeaten 44 off 33 balls. Sanika Chalke also scored an unbeaten 26 off 22 balls. Earlier, the Indian bowlers led by Trisha (three wickets for 15) performed brilliantly, which the South African team was reduced to 82 runs in 20 overs. Parunika Sisodia (two wickets for six runs), Ayushi Shukla (two wickets for nine) and Vaishnavi Sharma (two wickets for 23) also took two wickets while bowling brilliantly.
After winning the toss, South Africa, who came out to bat first, lost wickets at regular intervals and Mackie Van Wurst (23) was the top scorer. Only four batsmen of the team were able to reach the double issue while four batsmen could not even open the account. India also won the first ICC Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup title by defeating England by seven wickets in the final in 2023.
