HS Panesar, president of the Global Indian Diaspora Alliance, has welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming Canada at the G7 Summit and described it as an important moment to re-establish and reconstruct India-Canada relations. Panesar said in a special conversation that by June 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s participation at the G7 Summit organized by Canadian Prime Minister Carney is being seen as an important opportunity to remove and improve stress recently in bilateral relations by Indian migrant and global observers. He said that the feeling prevalent within the migrant community is of cautious optimism.

Panesar said that both countries have to achieve a lot with strong cooperation. There is a growing desire to focus on mutual interests and respect. Deep relations among people – especially the presence of a large number of Indian students in Canada and a vibrant migrant – create a solid base for this new engagement.
He appreciated Prime Minister Modi’s constant emphasis on maintaining cordial international relations. Panesar said that despite not being a member of India, Prime Minister Modi has been invited to G7, underlining India’s growing global reputation as the world’s most populous country and the fourth largest economy. Global Indian Diaspora Alliance sees this invitation as a recognition of India’s important role in global supply chains and its growing importance in the world economy.
