IndiGo got new chairman, former IAS officer Vikram Singh Mehta took command

IndiGo, the country’s largest airline, announced to appoint Vikram Singh Mehta as the new chairman in place of Venkatramani Sumantran. Mehta is a member of the Board of Directors of Interglobe Aviation Limited since May, 2022. Indigo is operated by Interglobe Aviation. The release stated that Sumantran was appointed as the chairman in May 2022 and after Kovid, he guided the board during the last three years during the strong recovery and incredible growth of Indigo.

Who is Vikram Singh Mehta?
Mehta started her career with the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in 1978 and later played lead roles in the energy and policy fields. He has served as the chairman of the Shell Group of Companies in India and other roles as the CEO of Shell Markets and Shell Chemicals in Egypt. He has also worked in the boards of various companies. Bachelor of Mathematics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University, Mehta has also earned a master’s degree in politics and economics from Oxford University and a master’s degree in Energy Economics. According to the information available on the IndiGo website, apart from Mehta, the company’s board has six members including co-founder Rahul Bhatia.

Indigo share price
Meanwhile, IndiGo shares on BSE closed at Rs 5,324.85. It was an increase of Rs 11.70 or 0.22 percent from the previous bandh of Rs 5313.15. The stock started trading at Rs 5,322.65, but it managed to touch Intrade High of Rs 5,355.70. Today, the share of the share was Rs 5,297.45. The 52-week high of the stock is Rs 5,665.65 and Rs 3,778.50. The company’s market cap is Rs 2,05,773.17.
