Pakistani Army Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG-ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif told the media that Islam is not only necessary for the trust of individual soldiers, but is also an integral part of army training. The Pakistani Army spokesperson was asked about the operation ‘Bunianm Marsus’, which was a counter -operations targeting Indian military bases after India started Operation Sindoor after the Pahalgam terror attack. In his reply, the spokesperson said that Islam is part of the training of the Pakistani Army, not their personal beliefs. This is part of our religion. Iman, Takwa, Jihad Fi Sabilillah (conflict in the name of God) inspires us, this is our motto. We have an army chief who has faith and the trust and commitment of leadership are reflected in such campaigns.

The motto of the Pakistani Army under the rule of Pakistani military dictator General Zia-ul-Haq was changed from Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s ‘Ittehad, Faith, Tanzim (unity, faith, discipline)’ to ‘Iman, Takwa, Jihad FI Sabillah’. This motto which is often associated with the jihadi discourse is also repeated by Pakistan’s Army Chief General Asim Munir in the past. The name of the operation tells you that those who fight on the path of Allah are like a steel wall. We thank Allah and the people of Pakistan and its media.
