Jammu-Kashmir: Terrorist attempt to attack army post in Rajouri failed, search operation continues

Army personnel foiled an attempt by terrorists to attack a military post in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district early Monday, army officials said.

Officials said that security forces have cordoned off the area and are conducting a search operation to nab the terrorists. According to an army spokesperson, the terrorists opened fire on the army post in Gundha area of ​​Rajouri district at 4 am.

He said that the soldiers deployed to guard the army post retaliated, after which there was heavy firing between the two sides. According to the spokesperson, the security forces foiled the attempt to attack the army post and the search operation is going on in the area to nab the terrorists.

According to unconfirmed reports, two people were injured in the attack, including an army jawan and a civilian. Officials said that firing has started again between the terrorists and security forces in the area, while the cordon and search operation is continuing.

Sources said the militants first tried to attack the house of a Village Defence Group (VDG) member and ex-serviceman located on the outskirts of a village but were forced to flee due to the presence of policemen, following which they targeted the Army post.
