After the resignation of Najafgarh area MLA and Delhi Government Minister Kailash Gehlot and saying goodbye to Aam Aadmi Party, the relevance and role of leaders of Jat community has again been brought to the center of Delhi politics. In the year 2008, Somesh Shaukeen, former Congress MLA from Matiala, was included in the party.
After the resignation of Kailash Gehlot, MLA of Najafgarh area and Delhi government minister before the assembly elections, and saying goodbye to Aam Aadmi Party, the relevance and role of leaders of Jat community has again been brought to the center of Delhi politics. In this context, Aam Aadmi Party has announced to make its Jat MLA from Nangloi Raghavendra Shaukeen a minister on Monday to keep the Jat community with it after his departure. So, in the year 2008, Somesh Shaukeen, who was Congress MLA from Matiala, was included in the party.
For the last few years, BJP and its top leadership were not focusing much on the Jat community, but now it is trying to make inroads in this community. Leaders of Jat community started gaining importance in Delhi politics in the year 1971. After Kailash Gehlot’s departure to avoid the Jat community, AAP took swift action and announced the ministerial post to its Jat MLA from Nangloi, Raghavendra Shaukeen. Apart from this, AAP has taken steps towards strengthening the Jat leadership by including former Congress MLA from Matiala Somesh Shaukeen. It is clear from this strategy of AAP that the party does not want to lose the Jat community.
Play an important role in the outskirts of Delhi
Jat voters play an important role in the rural areas outside the capital. BJP and Congress are already trying to establish their presence in these areas. At the same time, by including Kailash Gehlot in the party, BJP has indicated that it is also serious about winning the Jat community in its favor. This move seems to be part of the party’s strategy where it wants to strengthen its vote bank in rural areas of Delhi. The importance of Jat community in Delhi politics has been seen since 1971. From that time till now, Jat leaders have left a deep mark in the politics of Delhi. Be it the era of Congress rule or the new politics of BJP and AAP, the influence of Jat leaders never diminished.
