The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday, March 26, expelled Karnataka MLA Basangauda Patil Yatanal from the party for six years due to the alleged “anti -party” activities. The decision taken by the party’s Central Discipline Committee has been taken after repeated violations of party discipline despite many warnings. In the letter of Om Pathak, Secretary, Central Disciplinary Committee of BJP, official information was given about the expulsion of Yatanal.

The letter said, “The party’s Central Discipline Committee has considered your reply on the show cause notice on 10 February 2025 and took serious violation of your repeated violations of party discipline despite good behavior and assurance of conduct.” It is further written in the letter, “According to this, it has been decided to expel you for a period of six years with immediate effect from the primary membership of the party and you have been removed from whatever party you have taken over so far.”

Reacting to his expulsion, Yatanal said on social media that the party has “rewarded” to “say the true thing”. He claimed that vested interests played a role in removing him. Yatanal wrote, “The decision to suspend me will not stop my fight against corruption, family politics, development of northern Karnataka and Hindutva. I will continue to serve my people with the same enthusiasm and perseverance.” He also thanked his supporters including party workers, well -wishers, religious leaders, media and his family, whom he described as his pillar of his strength.
