A new controversy has arisen over the naming of a road in Mysuru after Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The opposition has attacked the authorities for this move. The Janata Dal (Secular) party and the BJP called it a ‘betrayal and insult’ to the people of Karnataka and demanded withdrawal of the decision. Mysore City Corporation, the civic body of the heritage city, proposed to rename the stretch between Sri Lakshmi Venkataraman Swamy Temple Circle and Royal Inn Junction at Metagalli as Siddaramaiah Arogya Marg and also invited public suggestions on the move.

Naming a road after the Chief Minister is a betrayal and insult not only to the historic city of Mysore but to the entire state.
On reports of Karnataka government’s proposal to rename a road in Mysuru after CM Siddaramaiah, BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla said Congress’s only aim is to name everything after Tipu Sultan or Siddaramaiah…They are Mysuru What message are you trying to give to the people? Siddaramaiah grabbed their lands and became accused number. 1 in the MUDA scam, and now a road is being named after him. This is an insult to the rich heritage of Mysore.
There has been a demand for a discussion on the MUDA scam case in the Assembly and last week’s Assembly session witnessed heated exchanges between the ruling party and the opposition. Congress leader BK Hariprasad reacted sharply to BJP president BY Vijayendra’s demands on the MUDA scam and also asked him to speak about the lands that were allegedly allotted to the RSS during the previous BJP government.
