Rajasthan cyclist Harshita Jakhar made headlines by winning two gold medals with Maharashtra swimmer Aditi Satish Hegde in Khelo India Youth Games (KIG) on Tuesday. Harshita won one gold medal in the scratch race and time trial (500 meters), while her cousin Aditya Jakhar won the scratch race.
Earlier, Mayank Chaudhary of Rajasthan won a gold medal in the 10 meter air pistol event. Rajasthan topped the top position with six gold and two silver. Karnataka (five gold, nine silver and three bronze) and Maharashtra (five gold, six silver and nine bronze) were behind Rajasthan.
Aditi Satish Hegde of Maharashtra, who won the 800 meter freestyle gold on Monday, won the 400 meter freestyle (4: 32.87 seconds) and 100 meter butterfly (1: 04.73 seconds) and won the number of his gold medals by winning the number of his gold medals. Telangana won three gold medals in swimming events being held in Gaya. Salith Dhulipidi (400 meters of boys individual medley), Suhas Pritam Milari (100m backstroke of boys) and Mr. Nitya Sagi (100m Backstroke of Girls) topped.
Meanwhile, Suhani Kumari opened the account of host Bihar in the medal table. He won two silver medals at Velodrome in the Indira Gandhi Indoor campus in New Delhi. He won a silver medal with Harshita in the scratch race (7.5 km) with more than half a second time. She then participated in Team Sprint (3 lap) with Amrita Kumari and Shalini Kumari, but could not stop winning the gold at a margin of just 1.323 seconds to Trikdi (Sabina Kumari, Sanju Kumari and Indus Lata Hembram) of neighboring Jharkhand.
Harshita won the 7.5 km scratch race with 11.50.973 seconds. He topped the Time Trial (500 meters) while being ahead of Akanksha (Maharashtra) and S Thabitha (Tamil Nadu).
