KKR team has suffered a big setback before IPL 2025. Actually, the sixth round of Ranji Trophy 2024-25 has started. Star Indian all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer has been badly injured in the match being played between Madhya Pradesh and Kerala at the Green Field Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. After which he was taken out of the field. Iyer’s injury could be a matter of concern for Indian Premier League franchise KKR.
In this match, MP team came on the field to bat first and their start was not good. Madhya Pradesh had lost 4 wickets for 49 runs and after that Iyer came on the field to bat but he got injured and left the field.
Iyer twisted his ankle while batting. After which he lay down on the ground and started groaning in pain. He was immediately given treatment by the physio on the field, after which he had to leave the field. Iyer was bought by KKR in the IPL auction with a huge bid of Rs 23.75 crore. The franchise was also thinking of making him captain. In such a situation, Iyer’s injury should not become a headache for the team.
IPL is to start from March 23. If we look at a heel injury, it usually takes 6-7 weeks to heal. In such a situation, Venkatesh can get 6 weeks’ time but sometimes when the matter is serious, it takes 5 to 6 months to get cured and the example of Mohammed Shami is also in front of us.
Apart from Iyer, former Indian team captain Ajinkya Rahane is also in the race to become the captain of KKR. Rahane was bought by KKR for the base price of Rs 1.5 crore. If Iyer does not recover then it is almost certain that Rahane will be made the captain.
