After his controversial statement against Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Mumbai’s Khar police have issued summons to comedian Kunal Kamra. Summons have been sent for his presence in connection with the investigation. According to the police, since Kamra is currently out of Maharashtra, he has been summoned on WhatsApp to record his statement at 11 am.
The stand-up came a day after the comedian issued a statement on his official social media handle and saying that he will not apologize for his act. Reacting to the controversy due to his comment about Eknath Shinde in his latest YouTube video, Kunal Kamra said that an entertainment site is only one platform and is not ‘responsible’ for his comedy.
Shinde Sena Party workers protested and vandalized at the site in Mumbai, where the demonstrations took place, due to which the owners closed the studio and lodged a police complaint against Kamra.Based on the complaints, the MIDC police registered an FIR against the actor and handed over the case to the Khar police for further investigation.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that Kamra should apologize for his statement, while Shiv Sena workers threatened Kamra that if he did not apologize to the Deputy Chief Minister, he would apologize.
