Parliamentary committee member wrote a letter to the minister
Raja Ram Singh, member of Parliament’s Standing Committee on Labour, Textiles and CPI-ML MP from Karakat in Bihar, sent a letter to Labor Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. Singh wrote that the Chairman of L&T has recently given statements that employees should work 90 hours a week, including on Sundays. Some time ago, Infosys co-founder Narayan Murthy had said that youth should work 70 hours a week. Long working hours do not increase productivity, it decreases. It is the responsibility of the government to ensure that labor laws are not violated. The government should ensure that workers are not forced to work more than the legal limit of 48 hours a week.
