Maratha Reservation: Jarange's hunger strike continues for the second day

YEARS

Speaking to reporters, Jarange criticised Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLC Pravin Darekar for some of his statements. Jarange alleged that Darekar has been given the contract to end the Maratha movement.

Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange's hunger strike at Antarwali Sarati village in Maharashtra's Jalna district continued for the second day on Sunday. Jarange is demanding immediate implementation of the state government's 'Sage Royare' notification, which will pave the way for the Maratha community to avail OBC reservation after obtaining Kunbi certificate.

Speaking to reporters, he criticised Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLC Pravin Darekar for some of his statements. Jarange alleged that Darekar has been given the contract to end the Maratha movement.

He said, “If they put me in jail, make sure that all BJP candidates lose in the assembly elections. Darekar is working at the behest of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. BJP will suffer huge losses because of people like Darekar.” In fact, Darekar had recently said that Jarange's reservation movement is political and motivated by personal ambition rather than community welfare.
