Market closed in UP against Pahalgam attack, candle march was taken out

On Thursday, markets remained closed in several districts of Uttar Pradesh and candle march was taken out in protest against the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. 26 people were killed in a terrorist attack.

The march was led by Salman Imtiaz, former president of AMU Students Union. He said, it is important that the country remain united in this difficult time and give a befitting reply to the enemies of our country. Women and local people expressed their solidarity to the victims and pledged to support to ensure justice.

Imtiaz said, the Muslim community in India is fully prepared to play its proper role in protecting the integrity and unity of the country. He also questioned the security preparations of the central government, saying, the BJP -led government had claimed that terrorism has ended due to the cancellation of Article 370, it should respond to this big lapse.

In Hapur, Hindu groups condemned the attack and called for a full market shutdown by noon on 25 April and urged people to show unity against terrorism. Various organizations also took out the ‘candle march’.

Members of the Bharat Vikas Parishad and Samajwadi Party paid tribute to the victims. Suresh Mittal of the council said, it is a cowardly attack on humanity. The government should take decisive action not only against the attackers but also against those who give shelter.

SP district president Anand Gurjar said, terrorists should be answered in them. Those killed were innocent. This is not just the failure of security, but national shame.
