A case has been registered against Karnataka’s expelled BJP leader and Vijaypura MLA Basangoda Patil Yatanal for allegedly made controversial remarks about Prophet Mohammad during a Ram Navami program. In the complaint lodged by local resident Mohammad Hannan at Gol Gumj police station in Vijaypura, Yatanal has been accused of making derogatory remarks, which has hurt religious sentiments and communal unrest. According to the complaint, Yatanal made this comment on 7 April at a public event at Banni Oni, Hubli.
He is accused that he said that a pangbar was born to Balasaheb Thackeray’s house. Which was considered inflammatory and objectionable by members of the Muslim community. Yatanal said in the program, what was Bal Thackeray. When the media asked him, ‘What kind of Hindu are you?’ So they used to say, ‘I am a mad Hindu.’ He used to say proudly that he is a fan of Hindus and Hindutva. But a Muhammad Prophet is born in his house. I think they will be crossbreed. The complainant said that Yatanal’s comments have hurt the sentiments of Muslims and threatened communal harmony. In Vijaypura, the police have confirmed that the case has been registered and further investigation is on.
