A teenage science, technology, engineering and mathematics (Stem) project in Mumbai through its project ‘Jul’ is making a significant contribution in creating interest in ‘robotics’ and ‘coding’ among the students of Jammu and Kashmir.
The program, led by 17 -year -old Aarav Kaul of Mumbai -based ‘Dhirubhai Ambani International School’, was started to provide practical skills in ‘Microcontroller Programming’ to students of class IX and Class X.
Aarav said, “The objective of this initiative is to promote the development of innovation and technology in the field so that the youth can be empowered with practical knowledge for the future.”
‘Stem’ refers to a program or effort that aims to promote education, skills and career in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Aarav met Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha here. Sinha appreciated this initiative.
Aarav insisted on his mission to make ‘Stem’ accessible and interesting, saying, “Robotics is more than technology – this is about the solution and creative thinking of the problem.”
A skilled international robotics champion Aarav, who represented India in global competitions like ‘First’, ‘Robotics’ and ‘Makex’, started a ‘Jul’ project for the students of Union Territories because the place is close to his heart due to his father’s roots here.
He has distributed free ‘Arduino’ kits to provide the necessary equipment to make machines to the students, which benefited more than 1,000 students in the entire region.
He said that under this program, weekly sessions are organized in March and April and during this time teachers and students are given guidance in the fields ranging from basic ‘circuitry’ and ‘censors’ to advanced ‘coding’ and ‘project design’.
Anupama Sharma of Jammu Culture School said, “We need more such initiatives to increase our technology and practical abilities so that we can add our students better than this.”
