Names of restaurant owners should be displayed in Telangana too: BJP MLA Raja Singh

Hyderabad. Amid the controversy generated by the Uttar Pradesh government's order to display the names of eateries owners on the Kanwar Yatra route, frequently controversial BJP MLA from Telangana Raja Singh has said that it should be implemented in his state as well. He said that Hindus should buy food items only from Hindu shopkeepers. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on Monday put an interim stay on the directions issued by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand governments asking eateries located on the Kanwar Yatra routes to display the names of their owners, employees and other details.

Raja Singh on Monday released a video of his speech and praised Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for ordering food shops on the route of the Kanwar Yatra to display the name of their owner. Raja Singh, who is in the news for his divisive speeches, said, “Last time we saw that food was served to Kanwariyas after spitting in it.” Referring to the Uttar Pradesh government's order, he praised its decision and said that Hindus will now know in whose restaurant they are eating.

Singh, an MLA from Hyderabad's Goshamahal assembly seat, said, “Such a thing should also happen in Telangana where Kanwar Yatra takes place. Not only Telangana, but it should also be emulated in Madhya Pradesh, Assam and those states where there are BJP governments.” Making controversial remarks, Singh said that Hindus should buy food items only from shops run by Hindu businessmen. He claimed that the food and water allegedly given by non-Hindus has been spat on first. The BJP MLA asked people, “Why should we eat impure food?” Singh said, “So, we should bring awareness. If we buy goods worth one rupee, then buy it from a Hindu only. If we eat in a hotel, then we should eat in a Hindu hotel. We have to do this from today itself.
