Sources say that the wrong declaration of change in the platform of the train going to Prayagraj created confusion, causing a stampede. Now the opposition has attacked the Modi government regarding this incident.

Leader of the Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has criticized the government and the railway for the death of 18 people in a stampede at New Delhi railway station. He wrote on ‘X’, ‘The news of death of many people and injuries of many due to stampede at New Delhi railway station is very sad and distressed. I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and hope that the injured are getting well soon. This incident once again exposes the failure of the railway and the insensitivity of the government. In view of the large number of devotees going to Prayagraj, better arrangements should be made at the station. The government and administration should ensure that no one has to lose his life due to misconduct and negligence.

AAP leader Raghav Chadha has criticized railway officials for the lack of mob control measures after the death of at least 18 people in a stampede at New Delhi railway station yesterday. He said, ‘The tragic stampede at New Delhi railway station has shocked all of us. Many innocent people including women and children have lost their lives. This disaster is a vivid example of severe mismanagement and lack of mob control measures. On 11 February, I raised this issue in Parliament, warned about the immediate need for better management protocols at railway stations, but the government ignored it. I have deep condolences to the families of the victims. Those responsible should be held accountable, and immediate improvement is necessary to prevent such tragedies in the future. ‘
Arvind Kejriwal expressed grief
Arvind Kejriwal mourned the deaths in the stampede. He said, ‘The tragic death of devotees going to Mahakumbh in the accident at New Delhi railway station is very sad and painful. May God give peace to his soul. My condolences to all the families who lost their loved ones in the accident.

Congress leader KC Venugopal has described the stampede at New Delhi railway station as shocking and extremely tragic. He said, ‘The scenes that have come out are frightening and pointing to a big disaster. I express my deep condolences to the families of innocent victims and pray for the injured to recover early. Attacking the central government, he said, “Such a disaster in the national capital under the direct supervision of the central government shows that the government is fully disabled and is only able to do public relations, not real management.” He alleged that the government has tried to underestimate the situation and wanted to know when the number of casualties would be announced. He wanted to know, ‘Why were crowd control measures? Why did the railways not run special trains, while they knew that there was so much crowd in view of Mahakumbh?

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra mourned the deaths in the stampede. He said, ‘The news of the death of many people, including women and children in the stampede due to the crowd at New Delhi railway station, is very sad. May God give peace to the departed souls.
