A day after the violence over the new Waqf Act in some parts of Murshidabad, Bengal, the Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly wrote a letter to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on Saturday demanding a several incidents of sabotage at railway stations in the area and demanded an inquiry from the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The official wrote, “Such a step will help to highlight the real face of the mastermind who plot from behind the curtain, identify criminals and future events.

Giving information about the recent incidents of violence in the district after anti -Waqf protests, the officer said in his letter that such incidents of sabotage targeting public infrastructure like railway stations not only disrupts the essential service, but also pose a serious threat to the nation. Highlighting the sensitive nature of protests, the official claimed that Murshidabad, bordering Bangladesh, has serious border implications of the presence of banned organizations such as PFI and SIMI.
The BJP MLA further said that handing over the case to the anti -terrorism body will ensure quick, intense and fair investigation. As a result of violent protests and blockage between Dhuliandanga and Nimmatita stations, rail services lasted six hours late. Earlier in the day, senior police officer Javed Shamim said that at least 118 people have been arrested in connection with the protest, in which at least 15 policemen were injured.
