Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, while targeting the BJP -ruled Maharashtra government on Tuesday, said that it wants to divert people’s attention from her achievements by taking advantage of the dispute over Aurangzeb’s tomb. He questioned the decision of the central and state government to remain inactive and said that when he has strength, he is unable to remove the grave. Thackeray hit the BJP’s stance directly, saying that the government says that it cannot remove Aurangzeb’s tomb as it is protected by the Center. Then why don’t you tell Prime Minister Modi to remove the tomb of Aurangzeb born in Gujarat? He also challenged the BJP’s claim that Hindus are insecure in RSS stronghold Nagpur. Nagpur has the RSS headquarters, which claims to be the protector of Hindus. How can Hindus be in danger there? If it was already a planned event, what was your Home Ministry doing?
Maharashtra Minister Nitesh Rane has convicted Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Azmi for the recent violence in Nagpur. He has claimed that the incident was pre -planned to discredit the state government. Talking to the media, Rane said that Abu Azmi is responsible for this. He started the issue and it was a pre -planned action of violence aimed at tarnishing the government’s image. He condemned the violence and emphasized that strict action would be taken against anyone who attacked the police officers. Rane urged the protesters to use democratic methods to express their complaints instead of resorting to violence.
Abu Azmi allegedly stated that Aurangzeb was not a ‘cruel administrator’ and he ‘built many temples’. He said that the fight between the Mughal emperor and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj was for the state administration, not for the Hindu Muslim. Violence erupted in the palace area of Nagpur amidst increasing tension over the removal of Aurangzeb’s tomb in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district of Maharashtra. The protests organized by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal became violent when the protesters burnt the effigy of the Mughal emperor.
