Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has reached Delhi to attend the meeting of the National Executive of Janata Dal (United). Nitish Kumar is also the President of Janata Dal United. Many big decisions can be taken in this meeting of JDU, due to which this meeting is being considered very important. There is a lot of discussion in the political corridors about this meeting of JDU. Somewhere Nitish Kumar is being predicted to turn back again. So somewhere it is being claimed that a decision can be taken regarding Nitish Kumar's successor. Some people are claiming that Nitish Kumar is angry with the BJP. That is why he is not speaking anything for a long time.
Party general secretary KC Tyagi said that this is an important meeting as it was not held for a long time. This is a routine exercise, the main objective of which is to strengthen and expand the organization. A senior party leader said that Kumar will also meet party MPs of both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha before the national executive meeting. Apart from executive members, general secretaries, secretaries and state presidents, all MPs and ministers will be present in the meeting, during which various decisions taken by the party in recent times, its impact, Lok Sabha election performance and the way forward will be discussed. Discussions will be held for the assembly elections to be held next year. In this meeting, JDU MP Sanjay Jha can be given an important role within the party.
In the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, the JD-U won 12 of the 16 seats it contested in Bihar. Apart from this, the party has also got representation in the Union Cabinet as part of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance government. The JD-U is one of the key alliance partners of the BJP. The meeting comes just days after the Patna High Court struck down the Bihar government's decision to increase reservation for Other Backward Classes, Extremely Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes based on the first caste survey in the state.
Nitish Kumar has been demanding a nationwide caste-based census, but the BJP has not yet agreed to it and has instead asked him to conduct the exercise at the state level. Now that the high court has struck it down, the JD-U national executive is likely to decide on further steps in that direction. The party's old demand for special state status to Bihar from the Centre may also come up in the meeting, as Nitish Kumar is known to be a tough bargainer. After taking over as the party's national president from Lalan Singh at the last national executive meeting in December last year, one of the major decisions taken by Kumar was to break ties with the 'maha gathbandhan' (with the Rashtriya Janata Dal) in Bihar and return to the BJP-led NDA.
