The 80 -year -old painter convicted of raping a minor in Noida has been sentenced to 20 years imprisonment by the court and also fined him. Police gave this information.
A police spokesman said that the Additional Sessions and Special Judge (Poxo Act) in the District and Sessions Court, Gautam Budh Nagar on Wednesday convicted the accused Morris Rider in the case of rape of a minor.
The court sentenced the convict to 20 years imprisonment, as well as a fine of Rs 50,000. In case of non -payment of penalty, the convict will have to suffer one year more imprisonment.
He informed that a fine of seven thousand rupees has also been imposed on him in two other sections. The government advocate said that the painter lived in Sector 46 of Noida and is currently 80 years old. He told that in 2015, when the victim was raped for the first time, she was 13 years old.
It is alleged that the painter kept the victim hostage in her house in Noida and from 2015 to 2022, the victim was first ‘digital rape’ (tampering with sexual organs) and then raped.
The convict is also accused of intimidating the victim by showing fear of weapons. He said that seven witnesses were produced by the victim side in the court. The victim’s statement and the painter’s recording of the painter on the phone proved to be important in punishing.
The advocate said that on May 14, 2022, the victim lodged an FIR against the rider in the Kotwali Sector-39 of Noida. He said that the painter had a studio in Shimla, where the victim’s father used to work.
The victim’s father sent her to Noida to the painter to teach her. He said that the victim did not say anything to anyone due to fear and for about seven years the painter sexually abused the girl.
When the victim’s elder sister arrived with her husband on May 13, 2022, she told her tragedy. After that, she went to Kotwali with her sister and lodged a police complaint and left the accused’s house and went back to Shimla.
The police registered a case under sexual offenses under the Poxo Act and related sections and arrested the accused. In this case, a charge sheet was filed in the court in July 2022.
