Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah held a meeting with 21 public delegations on development projects in Poonch at Dak Bungalow. Talking to journalists after the meeting, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that we had come to Poonch today to take stock of the ground situation after the elections. This is the first district in Jammu where we have heard from officials regarding development. Representatives elected by the people were also present here. Earlier, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah refused to sit on the big chair specially kept for him during an event organized here. Abdullah inaugurated the four-day ‘National Agriculture Summit and Farmers Fair’ at the main campus of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) in Chattha. Abdullah reached the stage and saw that his chair was big. He requested the management of SKUAST to keep a chair for him like others sitting on the stage.
National Conference President Farooq Abdullah accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of not being concerned about Jammu and said that the Omar Abdullah-led government will ensure overall development of the region. Former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah also stressed the importance of the Darbar Move and described it as a tradition that promoted unity and harmony between the two regions. Under this, the government used to work from Srinagar and Jammu for six months each.
