A woman died in a tiger attack in Nainidanda area of Pauri district in Uttarakhand. Divisional Forest Officer of ‘Corbett Tiger Reserve Forest’, Rahul Mishra told PTI that the incident took place on Saturday afternoon in Jamoon village in Mandal Range when 56 -year -old Guddi Devi went to work in her farm near Bhadula forest.
He said that during this time, the tiger suddenly attacked him and he dragged him about 300 meters and took him to the forest. He told that when the tiger attacked the woman, his pet dog was also at the same time.
Mishra told that when the tiger dragged the woman into the forest, the dog also followed her and kept barking there, due to which the tiger could not eat the dead body. The woman’s husband Raj Bhadula came to know about the incident at around five in the evening when he came home but did not see his wife at home after which he went to the fields looking for it.
Hearing the sound of the dog barking, he came to know about the incident when he went towards the bushes. On receiving the information of the incident, the team of the forest department and the ‘Corbett Tiger Reserve’ reached the spot and recovered the body of the woman.
The forest official said that tiger teeth and nail marks have been found on the woman’s head and back. He informed that after the incident, eight to 10 forest workers have been deployed in the village and ‘trap cameras’ are being installed. He informed that the Forest Department has given two lakh rupees as immediate relief amount to the families of the deceased woman.
