Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, after an all -party meeting here on Thursday, said that the opposition has given its full support to the government to take any steps to the Pahalgam terror attack.
Rahul told reporters, “All parties condemned (of Pahalgam attack) in one voice. The opposition supported the government to take any steps.” The government informed the leaders of various political parties about the Pahalgam terror attack and heard their views in the all -party meeting here on Thursday.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Foreign Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Reisu were present in the meeting on behalf of the government.
The meeting chaired by Rajnath included the Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha. Earlier, the opposition had demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should preside over the meeting.
Modi was on a visit to Madhubani in Bihar on Thursday, where he announced that Pahalgam’s killers and his supporters would be identified and punished. The day before the all -party meeting, the government announced several steps against Pakistan. Militants opened fire on tourists in Pahalgam, Kashmir on Tuesday afternoon, killing 26 people.
