The All India Muslim Women’s Personal Law Board has expressed its support for the Waqf (Amendment) Bill passed by Parliament and urged the government to bring transparency in the functioning of the Waqf Board and ensure women’s rights. All India Muslim Women’s Personal Law Board Chairman Shaista Amber said that the steps that the government has taken today should have taken the earlier governments and religious leaders. There should be positive work. Those who donate to Waqf, their intention is that their donations will be used for the poor.

He said that but it was not happening. It is not that all Waqf’s lands were misused, but the Waqf Board did not work honestly and did not do what it should have done. We expect the government and request that if the bill has come, then the lands of Waqf should be used for the poor section with complete transparency. Till date no government has worked for Muslims and they only did politics of votes.

Shaista Ambar said that illegal occupation of Waqf lands should be freed. He said that we request the BJP government to empower women’s rights and bring transparency in the Waqf Board. What did other parties do till now, were she sleeping? I request the current government that whatever happened till date should now help free the Waqf lands, which have been illegally occupied, it should be investigated and action should be taken against the culprits.
