The Chief Minister interacted with the family members of the deceased Syed Adil Hussain Shah in Hapatnar in Anantnag district of South Kashmir and also assured him of all possible help.
Abdullah told reporters that perhaps he (Shah) tried to stop him (terrorists) and tried to snatch the gun from a terrorist, so he was targeted. The Chief Minister said, “We have to take care of the family and help them. I have come to assure them that the government is standing with them in this difficult time and whatever we can do for them.” Syed Adil was the only local person who died in an attack on Tuesday at Basaron Maidan, a tourist destination in Pahalgam. 26 people were killed in the attack, most of which were tourists.

At the same time, in an X tweet, he wrote that it is heartbreaking to see the migration of our guests from the valley after the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, but at the same time we fully understand why people want to go. While DGCA and Ministry of Civil Aviation are working to organize additional flights, NH-44 between Srinagar and Jammu has been re-added for traffic in the same direction. I have instructed the administration to facilitate traffic between Srinagar and Jammu so that tourists can get out. This must be done in a controlled and systematic manner as the road is still unstable in many places and we are working hard to remove all trapped vehicles. We will not be able to allow the completely free movement of vehicles at this time and we hope that everyone will support us.
