Former captain Babar Azam, who was dropped from Pakistan’s T20 team for the upcoming series in New Zealand, has decided to withdraw from the National T20 Championship. Babur, Mohammad Rizwan and fast bowler Nasim Shah were not selected in the team for the five -match T20 series starting in Christchurch from 16 March. However, these three players have been retained in the ODI team. Let us know that Babar Azam was also criticized for the performance in the recently ended Champions Trophy.
Announcing the team, the Pakistan Cricket Board had indicated that Babur, Rizwan, Naseem, one of the central contracted players, will participate in the National T20 starting in Faisalabad this week. Babur and Naseem, however, have withdrawn the name from the National T20 tournament citing workload management and upcoming international commitments. A reliable source of PCB said that Pakistan Super League is scheduled to begin in mid -April. Therefore, it is clear that they are giving priority to the franchise league.
The source said that, given the incompatible policies of national selectors, these players know that if they do something well in PSL, they will return to the National T20 team. This will also discuss them on social media. Babur has not played any domestic first class match after 2020.
