Amidst the tension and diplomatic deadlock along the border, Pakistan has tried to carry out a big cyber attack against India. The Government of India’s Indian military engineering service and official think tank MP IDSA Manohar Parrikar Defense Studies and Analysis Institutes have been an attempt to make a failed attempt to make a dent in its data. According to media reports, Pakistan -sponsored hacker groups made several unsuccessful efforts to dent Indian websites, these hacking efforts were immediately detected by Indian cyber security agencies and made them neutralized. In one of these incidents, hacker groups, including Cyber Group HOAX1337 and ‘National Cyber Crew’, targeted the websites of Army Public Schools in Jammu and recently tried to distort them with messages making fun of the victims of Pahalgam terror attack.

In a separate cyber attack, a website providing healthcare for ex -servicemen was damaged, while Army Institute of Hotel Management and Indian Air Force giants were also targeted. According to officials, in addition to the domains associated with the army, Pakistan-based hackers have repeatedly tried to infiltrate websites related to children, elderly veterans and citizens. Meanwhile, the Maharashtra Cyber Department has registered over 1 million cyber attacks on Indian systems by hacking groups from several countries including Pakistan after the terrorist attack on April 22 in Pahalgam.

According to a senior police officer, the Cyber Crime Investigation Branch of the State Police Maharashtra Cyber has seen a significant increase in digital attacks since the Kashmir terror attack. Analysts believe that these cyber attacks are part of the campaign intentionally with the aim of increasing tension in digital space. They are seen as elements of Pakistan’s broad hybrid war strategy, including the use of terrorism and information war against India for a long time. Apart from Pakistan, cyber attacks have also started from Middle East, Indonesia and Morocco. The police officer said many hacker groups have claimed allegiance to Islamist ideologies, indicating a potentially coordinated cyber war effort.
