The Pakistani Army has issued a statement after calling Pakistan the center of terrorism. The Pakistan Army and the Foreign Office have dismissed Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi’s statement that Islamabad is the engine of terrorism in its neighborhood as a classic case of extreme duplicity. The Indian Army Chief’s statement that Pakistan is the epicenter of terrorism is not only contrary to the facts but also a futile exercise to undercut India’s default position – to blame Pakistan for internal reactions to state-sponsored brutality.

The Pakistani Army in a statement rejected General Dwivedi’s comment about Pakistan being the epicenter of terrorism. She said that such politically motivated and misleading statements reflect the extreme politicization of the Indian Army. Pakistani Army said that Pakistan takes strong objection to such baseless comments. It would be wise not to indulge in self-delusion and appreciate the ground reality rather than imagining a non-existent terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan. At the same time, Pakistan’s Foreign Office said that such rhetoric of the Indian leadership cannot divert the attention of the international community from the alleged human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Foreign Office said Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed territory, the final status of which is to be determined in accordance with relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. She said India has no legal or moral basis to lay claim to the areas of PoK and Gilgit-Baltistan. Pakistan said such provocative comments were “detrimental to regional peace and stability.” Pakistan said that such provocative comments are harmful for regional peace and stability.
